Legal Counsel
Thomas Catlett Cifelli Originally hailing from New Jersey, Tom has been a full-time practicing attorney since 2012. During his first few years out of law school Tom was employed as an in-house counsel for, SpaceAge Consulting Corp., a software consulting company based in Jersey City, NJ. While at SpaceAge, Tom was responsible for overseeing every legal aspect concerning SpaceAge. One of his biggest challenges while at SpacEage was managing lawsuits brought by SpaceAge against such Fortune 500 companies as Citibank, Bank of America, and Home Box Office, Inc. (HBO), for tortiously interfering with SpaceAge’s employment
agreements. These companies deliberately solicited employees of SpaceAge who had been assigned by SpaceAge at these companies for temporary software consulting projects to quit SpaceAge and join their company as a full-time employee. This interference with SpaceAge’s employees caused SpaceAge to incur great losses in its anticipated revenue. These lawsuits allowed Tom to develop his litigation skills early in his career against some of the top corporate law firms in the country. Tom would next pursue his interest in bankruptcy law by becoming an associate attorney at the Mid-town Manhattan office for Weinstein and Riley, P.C. – a nationwide creditor’s rights firm concentrating in bankruptcy headquartered in Seattle, WA. At Weinstein and Riley, Tom represented major financial institutions such as Nationstar Mortgage and Unites Services Automobile Union (USAA). Tom became responsible for managing the firm’s entire case load for the States of Florida and Ohio. Tom made a major life decision in 2017 and moved to the state of Florida to become the Director of Litigation for GM Law Firm, LLC, a nationwide law firm dedicated to consumer debt defense located in Boca Raton. In this role Tom had switched sides and was now defending everyday people facing lawsuits brought by unscrupulous creditors for such consumer debts as private student loans, credit card accounts, and medical. Under his leadership Tom had developed a workflow model at GM Law that would ultimately be responsible for managing an active case load that would grow to over 800 cases spread throughout the country. Owing to Tom’s aggressive debt defense techniques and case management leadership, Tom would successfully save GM Law client’s millions of dollars when
combined over his nearly 5-year tenure at GM Law.
Tom decided in 2022 that the time had come to take the many years of litigation and management skills he had developed and open his own solo practice, and thus, The Law Offices of Thomas C. Cifelli, Esq. was born. Tom’s young practice primarily focuses on defending clients against for causes of actions concerning business disputes and breach of contract claims. Tom received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science from Denson University (Granville, OH) in 2007 and then received his Juris Doctorate Degree from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law in 2011. Tom is licensed to practice law in the States of Florida, New Jersey, and Ohio, as well as all the Federal District Courts in those respected states.
